Google Project Fi: Little Things Mean Big Changes In Mobile Services; For The Better



Lost in the alphabet soup that is Google’s new  holding company is one of its many experiments in changing the business rules for network services while nudging the technology in a direction that ultimately benefits consumers. No, not Fiber, although it’s a fantastic broadband disruptor for those that can get it, but Project Fi, Google’s mobile service. After arriving with great fanfare this spring, Fi has slipped under the radar because of Google’s slow, by-invitation rollout, its very limited phone support (one!) and the fact Google hasn’t publicized the service like its more sexy Project X experiments like Glass, Loon and Self-Driving Cars. Indeed, the individual pieces that make Fi appealing aren’t unique, but collectively they are trendsetting and could herald welcome changes in how we all use and pay for phones and wireless service.
At its core, Fi is just another MVNO (mobile virtual network operator) that combines Sprint and T-Mobile LTE networks into a hybrid that automatically uses the best available signal. But Fi takes the concept one step further by incorporating WiFi calling, what carriers term voice over WiFi (VoWiFi). In areas with no or very weak cell coverage, but strong WiFi signals the phone automatically switches over. Unlike OTT services such as WhatsApp or Viber, VoWiFi uses the native phone number, dialer and SMS client (Android Messenger or Hangouts in this case), but as with OTT, WiFi activity doesn’t cost you by counting towards Fi data usage.
The Fi meta-network is a great idea and well implemented, but not without limitations. Like all VoWiFi services, call handoff only works one way, from WiFi to LTE. According to an Ericsson white paper, handoff from calls initiated on LTE isn’t currently possible, but specifications are under development to support bi-directionality. Another issue with all VoWiFi implementations is the uncontrolled nature of most public WiFi networks that complicates the decision about if and when phones should automatically switch from cell to WiFi. Some carriers and large enterprises deploying WiFi for fixed mobile convergence (FMC) telephony systems opt for trusted WiFi access gateways (so-called TWAGs): hardware devices that combine features of an enterprise WiFi controller and carrier evolved Packet Data LTE gateway (ePDG, a bridge device providing secure delivery of mobile packet services over untrusted networks). Like WiFi controllers, TWAGs aggregate traffic from multiple APs, authenticate the hotspot and build a secure tunnel to the carrier’s core network, apply some QoS traffic shaping, authenticate devices and collect usage statistics.
While secure and reliable, TWAGs are an added hardware and management expense Google obviously wanted to avoid. Instead, Fi uses a combination of Android’s WiFi Assistant app and a database of known, vetted and reliable public hotspots to set up automatic connections. Remembering how insecure public WiFi can be, Google completes the setup by establishing a VPN from the phone to its core network that protects all voice and data communications. The problem with Google’s approach is the seemingly manual nature, although the company hasn’t offered details on how hotspots are vetted nor a public process for submitting WiFi networks for inclusion in the trusted Fi ecosystem. Lacking a known hotspot Fi phones default to cellular, even if it’s not LTE. Of course, resourceful users can for WiFi calling by putting the phone into airplane mode (which disables all radios), manually re-enabling WiFi and connecting to an available network. All the VoWiFi features work, even on a protected network, but the process is sufficiently inconvenient that few users will bother.
The other problem with Fi is a dearth of device choice: channeling Henry Ford, Google’s initial implementation allows you to use any phone you want as long as it’s a Nexus 6. Now, the Nexus 6 is a great flagship phone, particularly if you like screen real estate, but with a giant 6-inch screen and footprint slightly larger than an iPhone 6 Plus, it’s not for everyone. This limitation will surely abate, as Google is expected to introduce two new Nexus models this fall and Fi’s technical requirements are no different than WiFi calling services available from other carriers where T-Mobile offers 18 different devices.

Nintendo and DeNA preparing announcement of first mobile game to be released in 2015



The first product of the partnership between Nintendo and DeNA will be announced soon 
and released by the end of the year, according to DeNA president Isao Moriyasu speaking 
during the company's first quarter financial report.
According to a translation from to Tokyo-based Kantan Games CEO Serkan Toto, the report 
said that the companies are "currently making announcement plans". Toto went on to 
translate the words of Moriyasu, who also briefly touched on the death of Nintendo president Satoru Iwata.
"I couldn't believe my ears when I heard Iwata-san passed. Our plans to bring Nintendo 
into mobile are not affected, however," said Moriyasu. We will bring Nintendo's first mobile 
game to market within this year. We will try to honour Iwata-san by executing as good as 
we can.
"We cannot talk about details, but we are making good progress with Nintendo. The plan 
is to bring about five games on mobile to market by the end of FY16. Our goal is to boost 
sales next term by releasing top-level mobile games with Nintendo globally."
Nintendo and DeNA announced their partnership in mid-March during a news conference at which Iwata also revealed Nintendo's plans to make a new console codenamed NX. Both announcements generated a lot of buzz, but neither figured into Nintendo's lacklustre performance at E3 2015.
Nintendo has yet to follow up its E3 digital event with a Nintendo Direct broadcast, most 
likely because of Iwata's death in July. Most of the company's announcements come via 
these shows, so it is likely that the first DeNA news will be released at one of these events.

Activate or deactivate mobile internet in India via ‘1925’



Mobile subscribers will be able to activate or deactivate Internet services on their mobile phone by calling or sending an SMS to a new toll free number 1925 from next month onwards.
The new directive from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) follows a large number of complaints from customers that mobile operators were keeping the process of deactivation very complex to earn extra revenue.
The directive issued on Friday mandates telecom operators to provide toll free number ‘1925’ from September 1 to activate or deactivate mobile Internet service either by making a call on the number and following instruction or by sending a SMS.
Customers can send SMS to 1925 by writing ‘START’ to activate and ‘STOP’ to deactivate the service. Telecom operators will have to immediately reply to customer about status of activation and deactivation of their service.
The new amendment issued in Telecom Consumers Protection Regulations directs telecom operators not to charge subscribers for usage beyond subscribed limit without their explicit consent.
“No service provider shall activate or deactivate the data service on the Cellular Mobile Telephone connection of a consumer without his explicit consent,” Trai said.
Though provision to activate or deactivate a value added service has already been in place but telecom operators often refused complete deactivation of mobile Internet services.
“These complaints mainly relate to… non-availability of information relating to data usage… non-availability of information to consumers whenever the data pack is exhausted..activation of Internet service on mobile phones without the explicit consent of the consumer,” Trai said.
Under the new rule, the regulator has clarified that the consent of a mobile customer expires after the subscribed mobile Internet limit like 500MB, 1GB, 2GB etc., gets exhausted.
“Authority decided that those consumers taking data packs such as STV (special tariff voucher) or Combo Voucher or add-on pack will be deemed to have given their consent for data services. Such consent will be deemed to be only for the duration of validity of data pack or on exhausting the data limit, whichever is earlier,” the regulator said.
The difference in mobile Internet rates under scheme and without any scheme can be as high as 500 times.
The regulator has asked telecom operators to send alert to those customers who have not subscribed to mobile Internet service, but use it as per their need, after every 10 megabytes of data consumed by them. Consumers will also have an option to opt out of this alert.
Customers on international roaming will only get alert to switch off mobile Internet service on their handset if they are not using it.

Mobile makeover for Britain's scandal-hit banks



LONDON (AFP) - With reputations tarnished by the financial crisis and a string of scandals, Britain s top banks are trying to adapt and move ahead by embracing mobile technology.
Four years ago, Lloyds Banking Group did not have a single customer accessing services via a smartphone, but today there are five million using such apps -- and counting.
"This provides huge opportunities for how we serve our customers," said Nick Williams, consumer digital director at Lloyds.
The trend is echoed across the industry. In 2015, Britain s banking industry body BBA expects 427 million branch transactions for the whole sector, compared to 895 million transactions on mobile phones.
British consumers are now among the top users of banking smartphone applications in developed nations.
"UK consumers were relatively slow in their adoption of online banking but have embraced mobile banking thanks to the ease and convenience of managing your money on the move," said Philip Benton, an analyst at Euromonitor International.
"It s understandable that the UK retail banking sector is betting on these new technologies."
A recent Euromonitor survey found 36 percent of British consumers have used a smartphone to access banking services in the past month.
That compares with 44 percent in the United States, 39 percent in Australia, 32 percent in France and 19 percent in Germany and Japan.
"It s an important evolution of the relation between banks and their customers. This could be the future of retail banking," BBA spokesman Robert Watts told AFP.
Branch closures
The financial crisis, scandals over rigging the interbank and foreign exchange markets and consumer challenges of mis-sold financial products have undermined trust in Britain s top banks -- and hit their balance sheets.
Lloyds and other lenders have spent about GBP 26 billion (37 billion euros, $41 billion) alone on compensation for having wrongly sold Payment Protection Insurance (PPI).
The four main banks -- Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds and RBS -- still dominate the market, holding about three quarters of all current accounts in 2014, according to the Competition and Markets Authority.
But their hold is being challenged by foreign rivals, notably the Spanish banking group Santander, and newer establishments such as Metro Bank, Tesco Bank, Virgin Money or upstarts like Atom and Fidor.
Some of these newer rivals have been quick to use mobile technology to win over customers, notably young people accustomed to shopping and buying music on their phones -- forcing the big lenders to innovate.
Mobile banking offers flexibility for users as well as a new market for products that analyse their spending to help them manage their finances, with no need for expensive branches.
Branch transactions are predicted to fall by 37 percent by 2020, while mobile ones are set to rise by 162 percent, according to the BBA.
There are about 10,000 bank branches in Britain, but there were almost 500 closures in 2014 as big banks streamline their services and cut jobs.
Critics say the major banks still maintain a structure that is much more expensive than their newer competitors.
"The transmission of data is crucial between the bank and its customers. The big banks are too big to do that" in an innovative and efficient way, said Edward Twiddy, chief operating and innovation officer at Atom Bank, a purely online business run by a staff of about 100 people.
There are still major challenges in shifting to digital banking, however, suggesting lenders have some way before they can dispense with their old operating systems.
Royal Bank of Scotland, for example, has experienced a number of IT problems, including earlier this summer, when almost 600,000 payment orders were affected. The bank recommended clients call customer services -- or visit a branch.

ZTE Obsidian Arriving On T-Mobile 13th August



If you’re looking for a smartphone that won’t break the bank, maybe to act as a secondary handset, or maybe to give to your child, T-Mobile might have something for you. The carrier has recently announced a new handset in the form of the ZTE Obsidian. The phone will only cost $99.99 all-in, making it a relatively affordable purchase.
Alternatively if you’d like to spread those payments out further, you can do so via T-Mobile’s 24-month installment plan at $4.17 a month. The end result is a few cents more expensive but we suppose that’s nothing to quibble about. So, what can one expect from a phone that costs $99.99?
For starters you probably shouldn’t be expecting much. The ZTE Obsidian will pack a 4.5-inch 854×480 display. Under the hood, the handset will be powered by a MediaTek MT6735 chipset clocked at 1GHz. There will be 1GB of RAM accompanying the phone along with 4GB of storage, a 5MP rear-facing camera, and a 2MP front-facing camera.
In terms of battery, not much to shout here either. The ZTE Obsidian comes with a 1,800mAh battery, but given its low-end specs, we reckon it should last you a while. It will also sport 4G LTE connectivity and will run on Android 5.1 Lollipop. It’s certainly quite astark contrast to ZTE’s Axon Pro, isn’t it?

Telcos fined Rs 10.8 crore over mobile tower radiation



NEW DELHI: The government has imposed penalty of Rs 10.80 crore on telecom operators till May 31, 2015 for exceeding the prescribed limit for radiation from mobile towers, Parliament was informed today. 

The government has imposed total penalty of 10.80 crore on telecom operators for exceeding prescribed electronic frequency (EMF) limits, telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said in a written reply to Rajya Sabha. 

According to the statement, the maximum penalty of Rs 2.15 crore was imposed on Bharti Airtel followed by Rs 1.80 crore on Vodafone, Rs 1.65 crore on Reliance and Rs 1.45 crore on Tata Teleservices. 

A penalty of Rs 95 lakh was imposed on Idea, Rs 90 lakh on Aircel, Rs 70 lakh on BSNL, Rs 55 lakh on Loop, Rs 15 lakh on MTNL, Rs 5 lakh on Sistema Shyam Teleservices, Rs 35 lakh on Uninor and Rs 10 lakh on Videocon. 

He said that during 2015-16 (upto May 31), 6 base tower stations (BTSs) were found exceeding the prescribed radiation limit on actual testing. 

The number of towers exceeding the limit stood at 103 in 2012-13 and 77 in 2013-14, while none of the towers were found to exceed the limit in 2014-15. 

"The penalty for violation of actual EMF radiation norms has increased from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh per BTS per incidence. Instructions in this regard were issued on January 20, 2013," Prasad said. 

The total number of mobile BTSs setup at mobile towers in the country, as on May 31, 2015, stood at 9,08,353. 

The government in 2012 had lowered the EMF exposure limit from base station or mobile tower emissions to one-tenth of then-existing levels. 

In order to ensure compliance to the prescribed norms of EMF radiation from mobile towers, audit of self-certificates being submitted by telecom service providers and BTS sites is carried out by Telecom Enforcement Resource & Monitoring (TERM) field units of Department of Telecom. 

In case, any BTS site is found to violate the prescribed EMF norms, actions are taken to put a penalty of Rs 10 lakh per BTS per incidence including closing of BTS site, if the violation persists. 

Additionally, the BTS sites against which there are public complaints are also tested by TERM cell.

HERE’S HOW TO BACK UP YOUR PLAYSTATION MOBILE GAMES BEFORE TOMORROW’S SHUTDOWN



Heads up, PlayStation Vita owners: Sony’s PlayStation Mobile service is shutting down on July 15, ending support for a large number of games on the PlayStation Network. Sony has issued a series of steps users can follow to ensure that their downloaded games remain activated and playable for the foreseeable future.
In order to ensure continued PlayStation Mobile game compatibility, PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV owners must enable an option within their device’s “Settings” app. From there, navigate through “PlayStation Network,” “System Activation,” “PlayStation Mobile,” and “Activate.” Enable the option here and your downloaded games will still be playable after tomorrow’s shutdown.
Though Sony’s workaround ensures that downloaded games will remain activated on specific devices, previously purchased PlayStation Mobile games will no longer be available for download starting tomorrow. Games will not transfer to new devices after tomorrow’s deadline, so use caution when upgrading or trading in your hardware.
Launched in 2012, the PlayStation Mobile service allowed independent developers to launch their games on the PlayStation Network with few of the financial and marketing roadblocks associated with the traditional PSN publishing model. After submitting a listing fee, developers could distribute their games across all of the service’s certified devices, including the PlayStation Vita, PlayStation TV, and supported Android phones and tablets.
Sony dropped support for Android devices last year, and later announced that a service shutdown was imminent. Today is the last day that PSN users will be able to download new or previously purchased PlayStation Mobile games.
Though the service had a short lifespan, it hosted a number of standouts while it was active, including Vlambeer’s shooter Super Crate Box, console-styled roguelikeAdventure Bar Labyrinth, and Tokyo Jungle Mobile, a strategy-oriented adaptation of Sony’s post-apocalyptic nature survival game Tokyo Jungle.
Many PlayStation Mobile games later saw fully fledged releases for the PlayStation Network, including Tikiview’s side-scrolling shooter Aqua Kitty (as Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender DX), Laughing Jackal’s atmospheric strategy game OMG Zombies (asOMG Zombies HD), and Sony’s retro RPG-themed puzzler Yu-Nama: The Puzzle (as No Heroes Allowed: No Puzzles Either).

Tie-up with Telenor: UNICEF to launch mobile birth registration



ISLAMABAD: UNICEF, in cooperation with the provincial governments of Sindh and Punjab, along with Telenor Pakistan, is all set to launch a pilot mobile registration project which will facilitate parents who wish to register the births of their newborns with one click. It is estimated that over 60 million children under the age of five are deprived of legal identity in Pakistan.
Talking to The Express Tribune, Sarah Coleman, child protection chief at UNICEF Pakistan, said the pilot project for mobile birth registration will launch in district Pakpattan, UC Kaliana in Punjab by the end of July and in two UCs – Gharo and Dhabe Jee in district Thatta, Sindh, by early August.
The aim of this pilot project is to grant newborns an identity right from their birth which is their fundamental right, she said.
The UNICEF child protection chief further stated that according to the Pakistan Demographic and Health Survey (PDHS) 2012-13, the national birth registration rate of children under the age of five was 33.6 percent which is worrisome.
Meanwhile, sharing the province-wise breakdown of birth registration rates, she said currently, Punjab is on top with 77.2 per cent followed by Sindh with 25.1 per cent, K-P with 19.8 per cent, AJ&K 24 per cent, Gilgit Baltistan 23.3 per cent and Balochistan with only 7 per cent.
“The main reason behind the low birth registration rate in Pakistan is lack of accessibility, no availability of required services and most of all tedious and lengthy document filling procedures,” she said.
In the majority of remote areas, parents have to travel long distances to get their child’s birth registered and when they reach, they have to stand in long queues and wait for their turns. Also, because of predominantly low literacy rates they find it difficult to fill the registration forms, she said. “On the other hand there are many parents living in remote areas who are unaware of the importance of birth registration,” said Coleman.
“Under this project we are using technology to ease the procedure of birth registration so that every newborn gets access to the fundamental right of individual identity,” she said.

Can Nokia Corporation Compete With Apple, Samsung Once It Returns To Smartphone Industry?



With Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (OTCMKTS:SSNLF) leading the way in the smartphone industry for some years now, it will be a big surprise if some company even thought about the idea to break their duopoly. Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) disappointed many after it sold its mobile division to Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), this might have been due to the increasing popularity of Apple’s iOS and Google Inc's (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android over their Symbian operating system.
Nokia’s decision to move over to Windows Mobile backfired on it. However, the Finnish company’s deal with Microsoft will end next year, which will allow them to manufacture its own smartphones. Nokia announced back in April, that it had no intentions to re-enter the smartphone industry. However, recently, the company has opened the doors to the possibility of licensing its brand name to mobile phone manufacturers. Nokia has said: “If and when we find a world-class partner who can take on those responsibilities, we would work closely with them to guide the design and technology differentiation.”
This statement indicates that Nokia will likely be returning to the smartphone industry, when it finds a partner who can manage the manufacturing, selling and marketing its devices. Notably, considering Nokia’s reputation, it is highly likely to find one.
Previously, Nokia has made use of its brand licensing model with Foxconn Technology to launch the Android running N1 tablet. This makes it likely that the company might facilitate Nokia’s return. Some rumors have indicated that Foxconn’s investments into Cyanogen could possibly be a part of its plans to partner with Nokia to make smartphones.
Nokia’s Symbian OS failed to challenge the iOS and the Windows Mobile platform was unable to capture the market share, when it partnered with Microsoft. We believe the only way Nokia will make it to the big is if it introduces Android running smartphones. Android currently holds the majority of the market share and it is everything Symbian once hoped to become. Nokia sold over 20,000 units of its N1 tablet within minutes of the launch in China, indicating that people are still inclined towards buying its products.
It's time Nokia re-enters the market, but it will only be considered a force to reckon with, if it partners with Google and introduces Android running smartphones. The Finnish company will likely be able to launch a smartphone in the fourth quarter of 2016, meaning we are still some way off from seeing Nokia making a return.

T-Mobile Adds Mexico, Canada to Simple Choice Plan


After July 15,  T-Mobile users traveling to Mexico or Canada will use 4G LTE data straight from their existing plan instead of paying additional roaming fees. The company recently announced an expansion of its Simple Choice plan. The new plan could be of special interest to small business owners to travel to either country regularly.
Named ‘Mobile Without Borders,’ the move delivers calling to both landline and mobile phones — and most notably, 4G data straight from your plan — across three countries. T-Mobile claims its Simple Choice mobile plan is the first and only of its kind to span an entire continent.
The move could eliminate a major pain point for U.S. wireless customers who do business in Mexico or Canada by keeping their data costs the same when in these countries as it is at home, the company says.
During a press and analyst call broadcast via Periscope for the general public, T-Mobile COO Mike Sievert explained:
“Over 70 percent of international trips taken by small and mid-sized business travelers were to Mexico and Canada [in 2014].”
During the same year, a release issued by the company claimed carriers collected nearly $10 billion in global roaming charges at over 90 percent margins.
The new “Mobile Without Borders” expansion on the existing Simple Choice data plan is an obvious swipe at rivals AT&T and Verizon.
T-Mobile claims both carriers’ rates for data jump by about 120-times when users leave the U.S.
For example, T-Mobile says business owners who travel to Mexico or Canada could pay anywhere from $30 to $245 per line, per month.
The company claims that last year, U.S. wireless customers’ long-distance calls to Mexico and Canada totaled approximately 25 billion minutes.
Assuming even half those minutes were mobile-to-mobile, T-Mobile says the total pay-per-use cost could be as much as $7.5 billion. And, even if every customer paid for additional international long-distance (ILD) packages, the cost could still total up to $130 million, the company insists.
Still, the claims of long distance companies must be taken with a grain of salt.
One example was in 2014 when carriers were beginning to move to unlimited voice and text and charging for data transfer instead.
At the time, T-Mobile introduced a plan starting at $50 with 1 GB of high-speed data transfer on its 4G LTE network. The company claimed it was offering more data for less when compared with its competitors.
Meanwhile, plans from AT&T started at $65 per month with 2 GB of data.
The idea of paying from the same data plan even when calling from Canada and Mexico and avoiding added roaming fees could certainly be appealing.
But small business owners or employees who travel regularly to these countries should do some additional homework and watch for similar offers from other carriers to find the best deal available.

Brain Wave Warping Effect of Mobile Phones, Study Reveals



A concerning new clinical study published in PLoS One titled, “EEG Changes Due to Experimentally Induced 3G Mobile Phone Radiation,” has revealed that so-called 3rdgeneration (3G) cell phone technology has widespread brain wave disrupting activity in subjects exposed to real-world like conditions, i.e. 15-minute “talk time” exposure to the ear area.
The study abstract describes the experimental design and results:
The aim of this study was to investigate whether a 15-minute placement of a 3G dialing mobile phone causes direct changes in EEG activity compared to the placement of a sham phone. Furthermore, it was investigated whether placement of the mobile phone on the ear or the heart would result in different outcomes. Thirty-one healthy females participated. All subjects were measured twice: on one of the two days the mobile phone was attached to the ear, the other day to the chest. In this single-blind, cross-over design, assessments in the sham phone condition were conducted directly preceding and following the mobile phone exposure. During each assessment, EEG activity and radiofrequency radiation were recorded jointly. Delta, theta, alpha, slow beta, fast beta, and gamma activity was computed. The association between radiation exposure and the EEG was tested using multilevel random regression analyses with radiation as predictor of main interest. Significant radiation effects were found for the alpha, slow beta, fast beta, and gamma bands. When analyzed separately, ear location of the phone was associated with significant results, while chest placement was not. The results support the notion that EEG alterations are associated with mobile phone usage and that the effect is dependent on site of placement. Further studies are required to demonstrate the physiological relevance of these findings.”
While previous research has found that mobile phone exposure affects alpha brain wave activity, and subsequent behavior (insomnia), this is the first placebo-controlled, single-blinded study of its kind to show that as little as 15 minutes of 3G cell phone technology exposure directly to the ear, “is associated with increased activity of the alpha, beta, and gamma frequency bands in nearly every brain region.” In other words, typical mobile phone exposure resulted in electrophysiological changes that resulted in measurable alterations in nearly the entire brain’s structure/function. Even though it is now common knowledge that cell phone radiation is powerful enough to disrupt sensitive equipment within an airplane (think: airplane mode) or hospital, there is still resistance to acknowledging it may adversely affect the human brain, an electrical impulse sensitive organ.

There is also the fact that even more powerful radiation emitting devices are being developed, including 4th generation (4G) phones, which were recently found to significantly alter brain neural activity after only 30 minutes of exposure. We can only presume that these more powerful devices may alter brain wave activity even more than the 3G technology observed in the present study.
Why are we only now learning about the potentially mind-altering properties of mobile phone radiation?
The independent study pointed out that 87% of brain wave studies looking at the effects of electromagnetic radiation from cell phones are funded by the mobile phone industry,1 which may explain why most of the literature on cell phone exposure reveals either null or inconclusive, and in in some cases even positive findings on cognition. Considering that in 2013, 6.8 billion mobile phone subscriptions were registered globally,2 the resistance both by the communications industry and its users to identifying health concerns associated with their use is massive.
Even if the concerns raised about the psychiatric consequences of mobile phone exposure do not provide sufficient reason to reduce usage, the radiation emitted from these devices have already been acknowledged to be dangerous enough to justify a high level of precaution. Mobile phones have become an almost necessary evil for many of us in the modern world. This does not, however, mean you can’t reduce exposure, and certainly always avoid putting one up to your head. You can use a headset, for instance, and also remember that you can put your phone on airplane mode if ever you or your child is handling it. Simple precautions like this can greatly reduce you and your loved one’s risk of adverse health effects associated with exposure.
