Latest technology helps crews battle Reynolds Creek fire

Better technology is helping firefighters battling the Reynolds Creek fire in Glacier National Park get the job done.
Type 1 Management Team Specialist, Mark Slaten says  wireless technology gives fire crews access to real time information and that computerized data makes plotting hot spots on site maps much easier.
He  says when working in a remote location an iPad or iPhone is critical keep crews up to date on the changing conditions - and it also helps them map out their 'plan of attack'
"It makes it, the map making a lot easier because the fire fighters are collecting the data and sending it to us at all times of the day; versus us waiting for these guys to arrive back at camp at 7 o'clock at night and handing us a GPS," Slaten said.
The Reynolds Creek fire has burned 4,000 acres since sparking to life Tuesday on the east side of the park. Several evacuations have been ordered and Going-to-the-Sun Road remains from Big Bend to the east entrance.
